Lark's Tin Man...2003 Show Season
Lark's Tin Man ("Deven") is a beautiful chestnut
overo colt.
He has been raised in our
private barn, quietly and without fanfare,
and with the best personal care available.
Our
goal is to provide the best equine vet, farrier,
handling and grooming care
combined with
regular exercise, socialization, and the best
nutrition available.
It was also important to find a trainer that
could find the true potential of his talent and
superior intelligence, while preserving his heart
and mind, and trust in human beings.
In February of 2003, we delivered him to Mike Audette, for training.
Mike believed that Deven had a talent for reining, and he believed Deven to be
"the most intelligent horse he has ever trained".
After only two months Mike took him to compete in his first show, for a first place finish.
This is truly exceptional
since it usually takes 1 1/2 years to train
a reining horse for competition. He won his second,
third and fourth show also. In six months , he had achieved his
"Superior in Reining" award,
and by the end of the year,
after eight months of showing, he had earned the
American Paint Horse Association #1 Honor Roll Champion
in the United States for Open Reining and for Junior Open Reining,
and won 5 Circuit Championships - more than any other horse in the country.
By December 2003, Deven completed a phenomenal show season
with the following accomplishments:
#1 Honor Roll Champion Open Reining
#1 Honor Roll Champion Junior Open Reining
#3 Ranking in Zone 9
Superior in Open Reining
111 Points in Open Reining for the 2003 Show Season
2003 Carolina Paint Horse Club Circuit Champion
2003 Cardinal Classic Circuit Champion
2003 Dixie Paint Horse Classic Circuit Champion
2003 Triple Crown Circuit Champion
2003 Camellia Paint Horse Club Circuit Champion
Larks Tin Man (Deven) will be six years old this
year, and has not yet reached his full
potential, as he is still maturing. He is a beautiful
animal with superior intelligence, and
we are proud of the incredible show season in
2003 and 2004. We will continue his
training for competition in the Florida Reining Horse Association,
and will consider training for other events as well.
We appreciate your interest in Larks Tin Man,
and invite your questions and inquiries. As
always, we welcome your visits to Neon Moon Farms.
As a breeding and training facility, we welcome visits by anyone interested in
learning more, or experiencing the
magic of the American Paint Horse. We are passionate about our horses, and invite you
to share it with us.
2004
#1 Limited Open Champion-Florida Reining Horse Association
Shown by Lisa Aldridge.
Larks Tin Man (Deven) completed the 2004
show season competing on the Florida
Reining Horse show circuit, and finished the
year as the Limited Open Champion, of
199 entries for 2004.
Also, we are sad to report that Deven's great
sire and America's beloved Superhorse,
Rugged Lark, was humanely euthanized on October 25, 2004 as a result of a serious colic . Our condolences to his owner, Carol Harris. "Rugged Lark was a legend in his time, and has left countless memories for everyone who was fortunate to know him". We hope that Deven will continue this legacy, as the only overo paint stallion by Rugged
Lark.
